end of the year mix by Althustler
Here’s a mix I did at home in Helsinki, it’s a selection of some house tracks I’ve enjoyed listening to this year. 2011 was the year I got deeper into house music, thanks to UK FUNKY, the gateway drug. I’m still loving soca, funk carioca, grime and lots of other stuff, but this mix is all about soulful, afro, vocal house. Looking forward to play more stuff like this in 2012!

Tropical Malady is introducing a refreshing mix of funky and soulful music from around the world. This thursday we have a special guest from South Africa via London, now based in Paris – Mo Laudi (FR/RSA), together with resident Gorgeous George.
Mo Laudi is a dj/mc known from The Very Best, Radioclit and Secousse. His dj sets combine the finest sounds of ‘nu world electro’, kuduro, South African house, UK funky, coupé décalé, cumbia and more. Tropical Malady is hosted by djs Althustler & Ddlz (Multitunes), Skeidar (Damp) and Gorgeous George (Tropical Punch). It’s free entrance, welcome y’all!!!

Urban London sounds for free

I think it’s pretty amazing that Donae’o is giving out his new album for free via Bandcamp. The album is called Indigo Child and it comes with 11 tracks. A couple of them have a real nice funky vibe, this one for example:

Donae’o is not the only one giving out good music for free. Natalie May, also familiar from certain UK funky tunes, has released her “MayDay EP” and it’s now available online, free of charge. There are pretty diverse tracks, some of them are not my thing at all. But the good tracks are really good, for example this one which has been around for quite a long time actually:
